Meet Catherine Graham
Catherine Graham is an award-winning poet, novelist and creative writing instructor. Her debut novel, Quarry, was a finalist for the Sarton Women’s Book Award for Contemporary Fiction and Fred Kerner Book Award and won the Miramichi Reader’s “The Very Best!” Book Award and IPPY Award gold medal for Fiction. She is the author of seven acclaimed poetry collections, including Æther: An Out–of-Body Lyric, a finalist for the Toronto Book Award, Trillium Book Award and winner of the Fred Kerner Book Award. The Celery Forest was a CBC Best Book of the Year and finalist for the Fred Cogswell Award and Her Red Hair Rises with the Wings of Insects was a finalist for the Raymond Souster Award and CAA Poetry Award. Her second novel, The Most Cunning Heart, appeared on The Miramichi Reader ‘s Best Fiction List. A previous winner of the Toronto International Festival of Authors’ Poetry NOW competition, she leads its monthly book club and interviews for By the Lake Book Club. Put Flowers Around Us and Pretend We’re Dead: New and Selected Poems appears 2023.

Meet Jessica Outram
Jessica Outram is a Métis author and teacher. In 2022, Piquant Press released her poetry collection, The Thing with Feathers. In Spring 2023, Second Story Press launches her children’s novel, Bernice and the Georgian Bay Gold. Jessica’s play Once Upon a Rocking Chair has been produced twice to sold out audiences. Jessica is the 4th Poet Laureate of Cobourg, Ontario.
Jessica currently works full-time as a centrally assigned Principal of Indigenous Education, supporting nearly 100 schools with K-12 curriculum and all Indigenous youth in an Ontario school board.
She regularly teaches artists and writers. In addition to writing, Jessica has studied watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, photography, and vocal music. She offers creativity workshops that focus on attention and ways of noticing using lessons offered by the natural world. She is a spiritual, creative, and helpful friend who wants to help you to shine

History of The Hummingbird Podcast
In February 2021, Aprille Janes and Jessica Outram launched The Hummingbird Podcast. They recorded two seasons and 32 episodes with a focus on creativity for artists and writers.
In February 2022, Catherine Graham joined as cohost. The show evolved again and broadened its focus to conversation and inspiration.
Joyous laughter throughout the podcast. I love it.
